In today’s society, adult acne is a very common occurrence, as skin problems don’t only affect those in their teens. More apt to suffer from acne than men are adult women. In terms of permanent scarring caused by skin problems, adult men are at higher risk. Adult acne is not caused by improper hygiene, contrary to what most people think.

Acne is caused by a number of different things, in truth. Three key factors which lead to skin problems are infection, oily skin and hair ducts that do not close as they should. In both adults and teens, these factors remain the same.

When small deposits of fatty tissue, dead skin and keratin get clogged in hair ducts, pimples occur. This clogging produces a blackhead when the duct is open. It is referred to as whiteheads when the duct is closed. Eventually a whitehead will rupture because it is closed. Adult acne is caused by this bursting which also causes redness and infection.

Adult acne is associated with many myths. Oily foods, fish and chocolate do not cause acne, according to dermatologists. Acne is not caused by stress in itself. Skin conditions have been known to be caused by certain stress-relieving drugs.

If you sit out in the sun or wash your face several times a day, acne does not clear up faster. It can actually do more harm than good to wash your face many times a day. Only darkening your skin and scarring are caused by sitting in the sun.

You are not alone if you are battling a skin condition, remember that. The problem can be treated in numerous ways. Adult acne does not have to afflict you forever!

Many statistics have time and again shown that the most commonly seen skin disorder across the globe is acne. Specialists in the field have been studying the problem, trying to find out various curious. Today, there are several ways of treating acne using medicines and control measures.

There are at least about seven different kinds of treatments in preventing or purging the problem of acne. In addition, there is a number of different products using these treatments in some way or another.

To name a few of these cures to reduce or eradicate acne problem, antibiotics, benzyl peroxide, accutane, herbal remedies, Salicyclic acid and Retin-A.

Accutane, also know as isogtetinoin, is a strict prescription medicine for extreme cases of acne that have not responded to any other type of treatment. One has to take this for a full course of 4 to 6 months.

Then there are antibiotics to fight the bacteria that cause acne. These antibiotics are given as internal medicine to control acne. Some antibiotics like clindamycin are to be applied to the skin. Antibiotics like tetracycline are available in the form of pills.

Benzyl Peroxide, an anti-bacterial medicine, is in use for a long time now to treat acne. This medicine has proved to be very effective in preventing and curing acne.

In recent times, there are a few herbal remedies available in the market. This new method of curing acne ensures that oil levels are regulated and fight acne effectively.

Tretinoin combines retinoic acid and vitamin A acid. This is known as Retin-A. This medicine is used to treat acne, sun burns and wrinkles. It is said to pull out follicles and eject the dead skin cells.

Salicyclic acid effectively slows down the cells going dead inside the follicle. This medicine is available in drug sores as an off-the-shelf medicine, without a doctor’s prescription.

Although acne generally affects young people during their pubescent and teenage times, it is not just limited to this group alone. Even adults suffer from this condition. Among adults, women are more prone to this because their bodies constantly undergo hormonal changes. Among men, acne can be more serious in the sense that it is more likely to leave scars on men’s skin. There is a myth that adult acne is caused for reasons of poor hygiene.

The truth is that acne results because of various reasons. Three broad factors that will lead to sin problems are oily skin, open hair ducts and inflammations. These are common reasons both in adults and the young people.

Dead skin cells in combination with deposits of fatty tissues and keratin, accumulates in a hair duct. When the duct gets opened, this clog swells into a blackhead. The closed duct appears as whiteheads. The whitehead which is an expression of closed duct will essentially breach at a later time. This rupture causes adult acne to become red and inflamed.

There are quite a few wrong beliefs that need to be corrected. For a long time now, it has been believed that chocolates, fish and oily foods are causes of acne. And some even believed that stress alone can cause acne. All these beliefs have been belied by the recent findings of dermatologists.

Just washing your face many times in a day does not help you clear your acne. Acne is also not caused by dirt. Washing your face a few times may be good. But doing it several times may harm you. Exposing your skin to sun will only make your skin dark and cause scarring.

It will comfort you to know that acne is a very common skin condition. You are not affected by a rare problem. The problem, anyway, is not insurmountable. Today, there are several ways to cure acne.

This is probably one of the most common questions that is asked about acne around the world today. The problem is, there is no definite answer because it depends on the person – it is truly subjective. Chocolate may well trigger acne in one person but do nothing to the next person. Thats because our internal environments, our ability to process food, detoxify the blood by filtering through vital organs are all determined in the majority by our genetic makeup but also by our environment.

Ill explain further. If John, for example, is suffering from a yeast infection that is caused from excess sugar in the diet, then it follows that chocolate will almost certainly cause acne for him. However, if Suzi is suffering from acne because of an allergy that she is unaware of, or because her hormones are unbalanced, then its likely that chocolate will have a minimal affect for her.

This is what makes the argument so difficult to solve because on one side of the table we have those that stopped eating chocolate and noticed a notable improvement in their skin and on the other side of the table we have those that eat chocolate every meal of their lives and dont ever notice a difference.

Things arent always as they appear with acne because the cause is multi-faceted and wide spread. There are just so many causes for acne, you only have to browse an acne forum for a little while to understand the diversity of the condition. However there are guides out there now that are beginning to piece together the jig saw so that you can start to do your own tests and step-by-step eliminate possibilities. This is how I cured my acne, and Im pleased to say that five years later Im still clear.

In the past people have used Yogurt to treat their acne and as such I can understand why some would have you believe that it is a potential cure. The bacterial properties of yogurt are well publicized and documented and there is some weight to suggesting that those elements would go some way to reducing harmful bacteria that may cause acne in the long run.

However, eating yogurt to cure acne is only a temporary helpful step to take because whilst it may help acne it certainly wont cure it. Whilst dermatologists around the world find it hard to align themselves on the subject of acne, Im pretty sure that theyd all agree on that. The reason eating yogurt cant be branded as a cure is because in my mind a cure attacks the problem at the root and eliminates it. This solution doesnt attack the problem at the root – it simply helps fight it.

The problem with the above statement is that toxins in the blood are the cause of acne, and everybody has some kind of toxicity to a certain extent. Even the oxygen that Im breathing while Im typing this will contain a certain level of toxicity. So to cure the problem at the root would be to essentially prevent any toxins entering your bloodstream – ie. walking around in an airtight boiler suit fed with oxygen all day long.

But my point is this, yogurt does go someway to helping with some peoples acne, however it wont be as effective as figuring out what environmental factors are causing the excessive toxicity in the blood (an allergy to a certain type of food, sugary yeast infection etc.) rather than just trying to counteract with a food type that can only do so good.

In terms of temporary alleviation and trying to minimize outbreaks, yogurt may well be a good thing to try. I always say; eat, monitor and adjust accordingly. Is it going to cure your acne? No, unless your acne is so mild that only a temporary reduction of toxicity in the blood would have an effect on the sebum production through the glands. The chances are minimal
